Rare Vintage Vixen

Happy Friday Eve! Fall is here -_-.  But the weather is nice and so is this fabulous dress!

This dress is a rare vintage 1978 Saint Laurent Documented Rive Gouche
butterfly novelty print silk crepe belted dress.

This collection was photographed extensively and celebrated the American woman. Nods to the forties are seen mixed with elements from his previous "Opium" collections and indeed this dress seems to be an incredible mix of the 40s, a cheongsam and the Yves particular brand of the seventies all mixed together by the genius that was Yves.  Recently, the co-founder Pierre Berge'
passed away from a long time illness.

This dress is very versatile. I can wear it to an
art opening, fashion event, or a date. The butterfly print is fun and trendy.

I love the cut and style of this dress.
The slits add a touch of sex appeal to the dress.

But the belt has the biggest impact on this dress. Since my frame is small, I often use
skinny belts to accentuate my shape.  Without it,this dress would've been a shapeless shift,
and wouldn't look good on me at all.

I added a pop of red to brighten up the look.  Almost any color can be added,
but red is my favorite sooo.
Did I ever tell you how much I love vintage dresses!
Half of the dresses in my closet are vintage.

This dress is definitely #SexybutClassy. It's now available for sale through Ebay, Poshmark, or Paypal. For renting options, contact me at TakaraNVogue@gmail.com

  1. Hi, you are one of the few vintage bloggers I have come across on here. I too blog about vintage fashion but I mix mine up with modern too. I loooove this YSL dress . It is to die for and yes it has hints of the 40's 70's and a little dash of the early 80's throw in there too. You look fab!

  7. That dress fits you perfectly. It hangs so well and clings to all the right places, you are right it is very sexy but classy. I don't own anything vintage at all but maybe I should start investing if the clothes are cut this well for women's bodies. I would never be able to walk in shoes that high though! I'd have to wear my Converse with it!
